In the Torah we are taught that tzedakah is a mitzvah, an obligation. It is an act of righteousness and justice. In our Jewish tradition we have found a way to make the giving of tzedakah part of almost every occasion
Zikaron (in memory)
Simcha (joyous celebration)
Kavod (honor) or
responding to a human need.
There can be no finer way to honor a beloved relative or friend, on the occasion of a significant event such as a birthday, wedding, anniversary, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, or recovery from illness than to contribute in this person's honor to the Temple.
The act of Tzedakah is also encouraged in a broader context. Other opportunities for Tzedakah exist and are accesible via our website.
